Go Green Supplement Meme

1.       Dried two loads of clothes outside!
Since it was warm and sunny out, I inaugurated my wooden clothes dryer for the season. Yes, some things do take longer to dry in the sun, but most things dried within an hour and a half- the time they would have been in the electric dryer!

2.       Started a compost pile – or a semblance of one!
Been researching on starting a compost bin. I began saving vegetable scraps, as this is the major part of our garbage at present- and set them out back in a small wooded area we have. In that area, I found our neighbor starting a similar pile. I saw only leaves and dead plant materials, but maybe food scraps linger underneath.

3.       Participated in an Earth Day festival.
I was invited as a vendor to sell my natural soaps at a local Earth Day festival.

4.       Continue to find innovative ways to reduce garbage and recycle.
Full garbage bags are produced once in two weeks in our household for the past two months. Recycling everything that is possible to recycle is one way of achieving this goal, eating 80-90% homemade foods (not from cans or boxes), and purchasing items with little packing or mostly recyclable packaging and starting a compost has helped along in this goal.

5.       Take the long way home…by foot!
I insisted on being dropped at our nearby shopping area for purchases and walked home with the purchases rather than drive home. It was not only a nice walk, but the slightly weighted bag was a good workout for my arms, which really need it, by the way!
