From America to India and bringing India to America- More Bio Here

Jennifer Kumar, also known as Jayanthi, has been creating and maintaining a website about India, Hinduism, and spirituality since 1997. Jennifer has had the extraordinary experience of living two years in Chennai, India as a college student. Jennifer was the first American to earn a Master’s degree in Social Work from Madras Christian College. Currently, Jennifer lives in America with her Malayalee husband, Krishna. Jennifer maintains a connection with South India, visiting family in Kerala with Krishna on a yearly basis. Jennifer enjoys spending time with friends, family, coordinating and planning events, creating things with her hands (cooking, soap making, beadwork, sewing, etc.). Jennifer is currently enjoying her days helping others adjust to and integrating in everyday life in America.

You can contact her at jennifer@alaivani.com.

It is noted that Jennifer also goes by the name Jayanthi, and the two names are used interchangably on this site.

Read a poem, entitled Alaivani by Padmini, inspired by the naming of this blog. Thank you, Padmini.

Compliments for your website

Hi Jennifer

Wow! that brings in a lot of message. I cannot stop complementing you on this....Great work! Read some of your posts and was also find that you completed your master's from MCC-chennai. Of course I would drop in frequently and share things......

I also wish to quote my site "www.tamilradar.com". It basically concentrates on tamil web, language, places, celebrities and much more. Though it's new we are determined to make it unique of its kind. Lets hope for the best. My facebook id is www.facebook,.com/tamilradar. Also wish to know your facebook page....

Re: Jennifer Jayanthi Kumar

Hi Jennifer/ Jayanthi,No words to comment on your approach and I was quite taken aback when I accidentally landed on your site. It was not something to usually expect from a person from Western Culture...you are exceptional. I read only a bit about you...would read more in the coming days to know what inspired you to take up a cross-cultural view and adopt Indian life style (and you are specific in mentioning South-Indian-which not many Western or even Asians are able to distinguish!).I am interested in cultural studies and would like to have a discussion with you if possible on emails or facebook..I've joined your facebook group too (immediately!). I have just moved overseas a year back and am able to appreciate the work you are doing! Keep going! Thozhi, Vaazhthukkal!

Thanks Lily! I am happy you had time to spend on the site and also leave this nice message. Feel free to introduce yourself in the Facebook group in the discussion thread or leave a HI on the wall! Great to be in touch. Are you in India! See you know Tamil. Great! Jennifer
